A tick off the bucket list, another amazing adventure... June 7th 2015

With a break in the weather last week, I headed north of Auckland to some of my favourite fishing grounds. This journey included a few of my long-time clients joining me for this adventure. Day one was targeting Kingfish on the jigs and while they were aggressive on the bite, we were plagued by smaller fish! The Snapper fishing did not disappoint, with couple of the crew catching some big moochers.

Finishing up a big day on the water, we had plenty of fish to fillet and the usual cleaning up back at our stay.

Dinner provided by our host was the perfect finish to the day along with a few coldies. It was just what we needed to be one step closer to being charged back up for day two.

Day two and a couple of us headed off for an adventure to Cape Reinga. An early 5:15am start had us arriving at the launching beach just after sunrise. This part of the country was new to me and you really need to do your research before entering any of the beaches! Launching was slowed up by the soft sand.  It pays to let some air out of your tyres and have an electric pump on hand for when you get back on the road...

After a few challenges getting launched in the surf, 15 minutes later we were on the search in foreign territory to find some fish!

It didn't take long to find some fish sign on the Raymarine E7, with a mixed species hungry on the bite. Fish hitting my Alien Jigs included Snapper, Blue Cod, Trevally and plenty of Kingfish!

This was another adventure I would never forget. While at the tip of the North Island I had time to appreciate what a lovely country we live in.The fishing opportunities are endless available while Jetskifishing - if kitted out correctly, prepared safely with experience and having a wingman, you can fish and experience some amazing locations of our country!
The fishing was great, the trick was to hunt where the bait fish were holding with use of the sounder. In quick time, I had the chilly bin loaded with some nice sized table fish, released many Kingfish till my arms could barely jig no more! Once I felt the fatigue, I decided to keep a couple to take home for family and friends.

Another epic trip and hard to believe, I was back at home in Auckland by 9:30pm to appreciate the true lifestyle of Jetskifishing!
